Creating a Course on the Use of Music in Behavioral Health
Creating a continuing education course on the use of music in behavioral health requires planning and a willingness to engage in a thoughtful, iterative process. - This assessment addresses the following objectives:
- Objective 1.1: After completing this training, learners will have foundational knowledge of the neurobiological and psychosocial mechanisms of music that will allow them to explain how music impacts people.
- Objective 1.2: After completing this training, learners will be able to identify and assess situations where music may have negative, activating, or harmful effects in behavioral health treatment, while also reflecting on the ethical implications of these impacts on patient well-being.
- Objective 1.3: After completing this training, learners will be able to identify how they are impacted by music, such as in the areas of mood, attention, motivation, when they listen to it or actively make it.
